Yes, you can start with zero experience. Our First Time and Beginners salsa classes in Kerameikos are Salsa On2, built for people who are curious, a little nervous, and ready to learn in a warm room.
What is salsa?
Salsa is an energetic partner dance originating from Cuba and New York. In the world, people dance Cuban, On1 and On2 (NY style). The Art of Salsa teaches Salsa On2, but will also explain the base of the other styles. At the root, they share much of the same music and concepts.
Can I start with no experience?
Absolutely. Salsa First Time is the gentlest place to start (level marked for first timers). Salsa Beginners is your first proper course. You don't need to "be a dancer" already. You just need comfortable shoes and a willingness to try.
Do I need a partner?
No partner needed. Come on your own. We rotate in class so everyone gets to practice leading and following in a respectful, guided way. Friends are welcome, but never required.
What happens in the first class?
You'll meet your teachers, learn the basic On2 step and timing, and start simple partnerwork at a pace that feels comfortable. We keep the room friendly. Mistakes are part of learning, not something to hide.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes and shoes you can pivot in. Leather-soled shoes or sneakers with a smooth sole both work. Avoid sticky rubber soles if you can.
