Bachata at The Art of Salsa is led by Rafael, Head of Bachata. He teaches together with Gogo, who carries with her many years of teaching experience. We offer a clear path from first-time and beginners into improvers and traditional bachata, taught with care for music, connection and how people actually dance together.

If you've never tried bachata, start with Bachata First Time and then Bachata Beginners. If you already have some experience, Improvers and Bachata Traditional give you a deeper musical and partnerwork focus.

First time to Improver classes learn about Bachata foundations and important elements of Sensual Bachata, so you can dance anywhere in the world. Can I start bachata as a beginner?+
Yes. Bachata First Time is for absolute beginners, then Bachata Beginners. If you've only danced salsa before, you can still start here.
Do I need a partner for bachata class?+
No. Come on your own. We rotate in class so you practice with different people in a guided, respectful way.
What type of bachata do you teach?+
First Time to Improver classes cover bachata foundations and important elements of Sensual Bachata, so you can dance on social floors. Rafael also teaches Traditional Bachata, rooted in musicality and connection.
What is Traditional Bachata?+
It's Rafael's traditional class: more musicality, connection and Dominican-rooted partnerwork. It's not a first class — start with First Time or Beginners, then come to Traditional when you're ready.
